Classic Floral Fragrances for Women

For women who want to leave a clean, fresh, ever so slightly mysterious impression on those around them, classical floral perfumes are the perfect choice. With citrus head notes, stronger flowery heart notes and delicate musky base notes, these fragrances offer a casual but not overwhelming presence, and yet they leave behind a memory that will not be easily forgotten.

The following are a few proven favorites worth considering:

Chanel No 5
Created in 1921 by Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel, the famous French couturier, this soft floral classic continues to attract a huge loyal following. It is estimated that a bottle of EdT or EdP is sold every 30 seconds somewhere around the world, speaking to its universal popularity. With head notes of Ylang-ylang, Aldehydes and Neroli, heart notes of Jasmine and Rose and a base of Sandalwood and Vetiver, Chanel No 5 was introduced as a fresh alternative to the single flower perfumes of the upper classes and the musky, sensual perfumes of the courtesans and "working women" of France. Women who like this Chanel product have also enjoyed Allure, by the same company.

Farouche
A rather difficult perfume to obtain, but one well worth the hunt this perfume was introduced in France in 1973. With a crisp tone and a "green" keynote, it carries a wonderful mix of citrus–fruit with oriental and woody undertones that present a slightly mysterious or secretive attraction. The head notes are Bergamot, Galbanum, Mandarin orange leaves, Aldehydes and Ylang-ylang. Heart notes are Rose and Jasmine with Lily and Clary sage. The soul notes balance the floral with Musk, Oak moss and Sandalwood. Lovers of Farouche appreciate its long lasting EdP performance and sensual subtleties.

White Diamonds
Elizabeth Taylor of the United States will be remembered for her many contributions to the world, including this brilliant, sensual floral fragrance that she introduced in 1991. With head notes of living Amazon lily, Aldehydes and Neroli, heart notes of Tuber rose, Rose, Jasmine, Iris and Narcissus, and base notes of Sandalwood with Amber, Oak moss and Patchouli, Taylor’s signature perfume shares her complex "star" quality and lingers in a warm, rich manner. White Diamonds is the most successful celebrity fragrance of all time and is available both as EdT and EdP. Giuletta and Vera Wang are also favored by women who love White Diamonds.

Teint de Neige
Translated as "the color of snow", this unique EdT floral perfume by Lorenzo Villoresi was introduced in Italy in 2000. A relative newcomer by some standards, its powdery, creamy fragrance is unique and persistent. Rich tones and bouquet keynotes are created with head notes of floral accord and Ylang-ylang, heart notes of Rose, Jasmine and Powdery notes and soul notes of Heliotrophe, Musk and Vanilla. Women and men alike are drawn by the suggestive, sexiness of Teint de Neige. Similar perfumes include Field of Flowers, Nuit de Longchamps and First.
