Perfumes for Autumn and Winter
Summer will soon be gradually mellowing into autumn (and then winter) and the countryside will soon be a blaze of natural autumnal reds, yellows, orange and golds. Ripe fruits will droop heavily off trees and hedgerows, ready to be picked. The evenings gradually shorten and there is a slight nip to the evening air. Autumn is a time of plenty, before the crisp chill of winter. Personally, I love autumn for all it represents and a crisp, clear winter day has its own beauty as well.
Whilst we may still get some balmy Indian summer days yet – it is time to start thinking about your fragrance choices for autumn and winter.
The "fragrance families" that should be considered for autumn and winter would be:
Oriental
Floral Oriental
Woody Oriental
Woods
And for you chaps:
Aromatic Fougere
Leather
Spices
These wonderfully warm, spicy and woody fragrances lend themselves perfectly to the cooler more inclement weather soon to come. Fruity florals reflect the autumn season and are very easy to wear during the day, whilst the heavier, musky and spicy fragrances can also be worn in the evening and on chilly winter days.
I make no secret of the fact that I adore fragrances that fit into the Oriental Floral category and I simply cannot wait to be able to start wearing some old favourites as well some new releases this winter.
However, you can also apply a little reverse psychology here too; and a light and cheerful floral or citrus fragrance can brighten the most dreary of winter days – so don't be afraid to occasionally raid your summer "wardrobe" if you are in need of a mid-winter "pick me up".

Heavier winter clothing traps, warms and holds fragrance very nicely, so I tend to find that I seem to get more enjoyment from my choice of fragrance and need to top-up less during the winter than I do during the summer months.
I hope you enjoy wearing these wonderful fragrances over the next few months and if you don't own any fragrances from these more woody, musky and spicy families, then you know what to ask for, for Christmas!
